No one really gives pest control much of any thought. In reality however this world would e a much different place without it. There would be nothing to hold back the tireless roaches, ants, rats and mice not to mention the thousands of other pests that regularly infest our homes. It wasn’t always this way and mankind’s early struggles using pest control methods were primitive and not very well thought out. Large swaths of crawling and flying insects would indeed die by the massive release of powerful insecticides but this approach was not as effective as it could be and so scientist worked hard on perfecting pest control techniques. Safety has become the focal point of any formulation with effectiveness only considered after that standard is reached. Residuals of pest products stand ready to protect against future insects but can only be seen by the use of a very powerful microscope. It seems impossible that an entire bug colony would die off from such a minute amount but not only that one, any others that come in contact as well. We do take this for granted because this is how most of us have grown up. We rarely have to fight swarms of pests and our homes can be pest free because of the periodic visit of the pest control technician. This is not the case all over the world and it serves as a reminder when we look at those countries who do not employ pest management practices. There plagues carried by vermin and insect still exist and life can be so miserable as the people are powerless to get any relief from the relentless march of the pests.
